Those where very honest fractions and a very strong final time. He definitely wasn’t walking on the lead. This wasn’t a long shot that just got loose on an easy lead. He worked for it every inch of the way. Well done to Medina Spirit and Johnny V

I've been watching the Derby for over 50 years and I can't remember a horse going wire to wire for the win. A mile and a quarter against 18 other horses, including the one that beat him by 4 lengths in the Santa Anita Derby, and they couldn't pass him. Medina Spirit showed great stamina and great heart.

About time they did something. Very proud of Mandy for his performance in this race. His jockey did amazing as well. It's a very well earned win for the horse. He won it fairly.

Me too he ran his heart out in the florida derby and was in second today for quite some time and then put it in reverse possibly got injured

so true i decided to box the best 5 or so jockeys in a exacta box and hope 2 of them would show up. worked out good turned a $20 bet into 250 bucks

i was telling people i thought a single win bet on the derby was the silliest bet to make. only way to go was to put a little money in it and box a exotic bet.

@@1MHouse. Yes - the Kentucky Derby is the top 3 year olds flat racing and the Grand National is for the top steeplechase horses (older age).

Neither Bob Baffert, nor the jockey won this race. The horse won it, because, as is his habit, he refuses to let anyone pass him. Anyway, it's always nice to see a longshot beat all the laboring favorites and silence all the experts.
