Maximum Securitys jockey cut off War of Wills causing a chain reaction causing other horses to almost hit the rails. This was almost the mother of all pile ups. It's a miracle there wasn't jockeys and horses on the ground all over the field.

War of Will had to be pulled up hard, the jockey said the reason why they didn't fall was because of the athletic ability of War of Will. Regardless, by pulling him up, it caused him to lose the race, as well as a horse right behind him.

I have been a fan of US Racing for over 40 years, and have seen much worse infringements where the winner was not taken down, simply because the interference did not affect the final outcome.. IN my opinion it was an inequitable unfair decision by unjudicial Stewards.

@@TheRealL-Man I agree especially when this sport is under as big of a microscope as it is right now. There's already issues of horses being put down because they'll take a bad step or their legs will give way, the last thing the sport needs right now is for people to think that there's liberties being taken in regards to safety.

@@rickyfenderf5 now, there is such a thing as unsafe or reckless riding, and jockies are penalized for it everyday. There doesn't have to be a wreck to take down a horses number; the point is to penalize unsafe riding so that jocks will be a little more careful. You might think, how was this unsafe? Watch the video closely; MS's jock was riding with loose reins right before his colt juked right. Riding that way on a green colt on a slippery/ sloppy track is a very bad idea. In a word, it's unsafe riding.

They keep giving analogies because interference is a gray area. The 1 did not check up at all. If you look at the video you can see that the jockey on the 1 keeps pushing through despite being in close quarters. The stewards took about 20 minutes to come to a decision because the interference was not clear and they also had to see what other horses were affected. If it was so clear it would not have taken so long.

Sorry to those who believe Maximum Security won fair and square but I've watched the video over and over. There is a point when Maximum Security is throwing his head which indicates to me he is fighting the rider. The jockey appears to have intentionally moved the horse in a blocking motion. This isn't NASCAR where pulling this kind of stunt wrecks a car or several. This COULD have been a tragedy, I firmly believe the Stewards were correct in their decision to disqualify, next time the jockey will think twice about such recklessness.

Since the only horse impeded was War of Will, who did not break stride, but faded many steps after the impediment ,then there should be no DQ. He did not hang in there but faded, so there was no consequence of Maximum Security's stepping into other lane. I think an even more cause of DQ was Maximum Security's almost pushing Code of Honor into the rail. But considering Code of Honor wasn't pushed, then no DQ.

If any thing was committed it was the horses behind him who knew that the lead horse was swinging wide in the slop to lead the other horses out wider, but the jockey's behind him couldn't catch him so it just so happened they forced out the 2 and that horse was impeded and had to slow up. If there was any objection, it was with the 2nd place and the 3rd place horses who pinched out the 2 horse. I've seen this play done a lot of times with bad muddy condition. The horses who ran 2nd and 3rd those jockey's should have been suspended too. I would like to see Maximum risk run in the Belmont, just to prove that he a winner.

In general if a horse costs another horse(s) a placing then of course it must be disqualified behind every horse who suffered the consequences, and especially in a race like this where 3rd place is worth $300, 000. I have looked at this video at least 20 times and although the 7 definitely came out a couple lanes, the 1 never checked once and continued to push the horse so I am not sure if this was a good dq. What is not mentioned in situations like this is the serious amount bettors lost and/or won when this happens. It had to be in the millions of dollars lost/won. Hopefully people did not mortgage their homes for this. I had a feeling a long shot would win so the only wager I made was on the Oaks/Derby double. I lost the Oaks so what happened in the Derby was inconsequential to me.

Your comment about the wagering did not make much sense. I was referring to the money lost by bettors. Nothing to do with Vegas or the track. All the exactas, pick 3's, large show wagers(and you know there were many of those $5k or more to show on an unbeaten horse), etc....I am not concerned about the actual odds. As far as the dq is concerned we will have to disagree. If it was so obvious of an interference the stewards would have put up an inquiry sign, but they did not. A dq was the result of an objection by the jockeys.

It appears that MS spooked exactly when the horse behind him came up on his hind end. Maybe the other horse hit one of this legs and caught him off guard which is also why he changed his lead. I don't know. I'm not an expert but it certainly doesn't look intentional by the horse's actions. I'm just glad that everyone came away safe.

John Raymond ... I rode professionally for 19 years winning over 2300 races. I’m not aware of any clubs where fixing races were discussed. I believe this happened years ago when the cameras weren’t as good an or they just didn’t have them. If you think fixing a race is easy, it’s obvious you’ve been going to the dog races and not the horse races.

Both horses are out of future race. One has won Florida Derby classically. The other was involved in a contraversy and got decision to be winner of the Kentuchy derby 2019. The owner of most favoured horse "Omaha Beach" should produce his horse in next race and try to win it. In case another horse emerged in the scene say Roadster then that would be the best horse. By bookies 65/1 was a far call for a horse which has performed well inntge race. Rs 9 million dollars should be returned. We should concentrate on Preekness Baltimore Derby scheduled on 14 th May 2019.

Omaha Beach was scratched for the Derby because of a medical problem and won't be ready for the Preakness. And once you get past the morning line, horse race odds are determined by the bettors.

Watch MS ears perk up as he approaches the shrubs, he notices them and veers off to the right. There isn't a horse out there that won't spook at something he's seen a million times. If you've ever been on a horse, at any speed, you'll have to make corrections to help them stay "straight". His concentration was definitely broke during that last stretch while he was looking. I think he's still the winner, I could see Valor coming on quite aways back and wanted to see him make a charge for the lead. It made for an exciting end, I don't think the call was correct to DQ MS though.

Dean, all horses move during the race in different paths to attempt to gain a better position. They're not supposed to stay just in one path the entire race. The difference is that the horse is allowed to do so only if clear of other horses.

The truth about the whole scenario. Is that the horse was spook and lost momentum and still win by two length. Wrong judgement by the stewards. Great job to the jockey. That was the best in the field. Shame do cause the owner would of get. First and second place. The horse was jinx.

@@newstarcadefan newstarcadefan, Horses will be horse's should be enough to explain the outcome. Scroll down and find Martin Pupelnickel and read his comment. He knows how these ponies think! Their really smart animals but what goes in their brains is not necessarily what comes out. For instance stand at fence post and study a little grasshopper at the top for 15min. the hopper springs off and startles the horse, the horse NEVER EVER goes back to that post again! Or it goes out to pasture and stomps a clump of grass and weeds untill it all disintegrates. The officials spent 20 min. going through rule books and I'll bet they never took the horse's ways into consideration. I don't know if the jockey pulled that way or not but when your about to win, why? Let's ask the grasshopper.
