He did, but lets remember that racetrack announcers use binoculars for most of the race, and while Mystik Dan was coming through on the inside, the announcer was busy trying to figure out which two horses were making runs on the outside (Stronghold & Resilience) and you hear him pause for just a split second (likely to look down at his program). And there was also so many horses there at one time and he had to focus on 6 horses at once, he probably just didn't see Mystik Dan come through

I missed the Superfecta,didn't have Mystic Dan in first.

What a great race

Exciting stretch run and finish, but one of the lousiest announcer oversights 😮. Mystic Dan was already on the lead just inside the quarter pole, and the announcer failed to recognize that until the 16th pole! Absolutely embarrassing, reminded me of Mine That Bird's Derby victory, again riding the rail, and the announcer (can't remember who it was) failing to spot him until he was way ahead in the stretch. That one took the cake 😂

I said the exact same thing on the yt video!! Such an embarrassment. Both Mine That Bird and Mystic Dan deserved a better call. It's like he's too focused on the outside run.

Actually, the best horse did win the race, even with the all bumping, SL and FY were STILL closing rapidly and STILL lost by the slimmest of margins one can lose by in racing, Mystik Dan just had enough left due to being on the rail for the entire race

He was three lengths clear when he called his name, just like Tom Durkin's call in 2009 with Mine That Bird.

I hear the callers voice and it instantly takes me back to “ WE ARE COMING DOWN TO THE WIRE…RICH STRIKE, COMING DOWN THE INSIDE, RICH STRIKE, THE LONGEST SHOT HAS WON THE KENTUCKY DERBY!!!”

Ah no, that's not why Max was DQ'd in 2019, he was DQ'd bc he came over and impeded the paths of both Bodexpress and Long Range Toddy and caused them to lose all their momentum. And Max is the one who bothered War of Will, War of Will was legit almost sideways when they turned into the stretch. And here, the 2 and the 11 were both interfering equally with one another, one was lugging in while the other was lugging out

Bad call by Colmus, it was MD not Resilience

Jockey Ryusei Sakai was riding Forever Young like there was no tomorrow, also fighting off the Bully Sierra Leone, rematch needs to be at Pimlico.

Unfortuantely not gonna happen in the Preakness, Forever Young has gone back to Japan and will not be returning to the States until the Breeders' Cup in November

What an incredible battle by Sierra and Forever Young. Mystik Dan just barely held off because those two we’re battling so hard!! Forever young really screwed Sierra and himself by pushing out or they would have been 1 and 2 and Dan woulda got third! He just REALLY didn’t wanna loss to Sierra Leone I guess

What happen with Larry this weekend, genuinely concern. I never seen him off on so many calls. I hope everything is good with him maybe just bad day in the office and was rattled about his previous calls on the day. I hopefully he does better the next two races and breeders cups this year.

The horse 🐴 in green is running a straight line. Watch how SL continuously pushes in closer to that horses line he was nowhere near him in the stretch...watch how close is near the end...that bumping and taking fy ground cost him the Kentucky Derby

I've watched this a dozen times already and this proves again SL and gafflione bumped and took FYs ground at least 5 times round the final turn. Look I love racing but this horse should have been disqualified and gafflione stood down for reckless Riding...he CLEARLY knew he wasn't going to win so he made SUre he would stop FY winning also!!! There is NO way on this planet that mystik Dan wins that race if Forever young wasn't interfered with by Sierra Leone. none
