Great ride by Wayne. Well done Joseph O'Brien and Iridessa.
Was all in on Vasilika and decided to box her and Iridessa at the last minute because they were saying when Wayne Lordan rides her good things happen. True! Fantastic race by both horses.
This race breaks my heart. Vasilika almost had it! 😭
Vasilika ran a super race to be second. This was only her second loss out of 13 starts on the Santa Anita turf. She is a grand daughter of the 1997 Breeders Cup Classic winner Skip Away.

Backed it.. took 13/2 so lost value as it closed 8/1. I ain’t mad, made my money
well watch the first to and the speed is holding , running on asphalt
Perhaps the most improved filly based in Ireland, if not all of Europe that won G1 races at a mile & 10F in 2019. In the final 5 starts of her career, Iridessa won the G1 Pretty Polly Stakes over 10F at the Curragh, the G1 Matron Stakes over a mile at Leopardstown, and the G1 Breeders Cup Filly & Mare Turf over 10F at Santa Anita. She also finished 3rd during that 5-race stretch behind G1 English 1000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook and G1 Falmouth Stakes winner Veracious in the G1 Sun Chariot Stakes over a mile at Newmarket. Her only out of money finish in those 5 was her in the G1 Irish Oaks over 12F at the Curragh where she finished a tailed off 7th over a trip that looked like a bridge too far.
Secertariat would of held this record to but hes not a mare
