I think if ‘Charge it’ runs less green in the Derby he will be a factor. The California boys (as usual) will be tough

He's still a bit green but yes, lots of promise in him going forward it seems. I'd say look out for him at Belmont, bc he's a Tapit, and we all know that Tapit colts love the Belmont

I like Charge it’s effort here. Nothing spectacular but he was moving well towards the winner.

Charge it will definitely be the 'wise guy' horse for the derby

@@kenbrickman4412 You do realize the maiden horse who beat him was a Baffert horse right? Messier without the "Baffert drugs" was still 10 lengths clear of the third place finisher, and the jockey did not really push Messier to battle Taiba to the wire, he was fine with second place. I like Messier even more after the SA derby, and if Early Voting does not run in the KY derby Messier could put on a show.

@@venom518 You're probably right...Messier being 10 lengths clear of the rest of those donkeys (Forbidden Kingdom obviously hurt himself) probably means something...but I bet that beating 3 other donks doesn't translate to beating a very talented 20 horse stampede....and I have been betting Baffert in the Derby since Cavonnier and Silver Charm...fortunately for racing his horses only get to run on hay and oats this year😆

@@kenbrickman4412 If you don't think every trainer at that level is doing whatever they can to give their horses an edge, you're very naive. Horses have been drugged back to the 1970s. The battle between hiding it and the powers that be trying to catch them has went on since then. You think Secretariat ran a 2:24 clean? LOL. Olympic sports, pro sports, and yes...horse racing. Simply NOT clean.

White Abario is still a bit green. I'm thinking if they had another half furlong Charge It would have gone right on by. With less than a sixteenth to go, rider on Charge snatched him and to take him to the outside of White Abario, but that one had drifted out impeding that move. I don't think Charge It had enough distance left to catch the 7 but if the rider on Charge It only had to push the button once, who knows. I'd REALLY like to see the head on video of the stretch run

What are you talking about? White Abarrio didn't drift out. The rider on Charge It grabbed him to shift him out bc HE was the one drifting in bc he was on the wrong lead, the rider was trying to get him to switch leads. That's why he was pulling him to the outside, bc he was on the left lead instead of the right lead.

Possible signs of a tired horse also. First Saturday in May will send them farther than any have raced to date. Charge it should like the added distance, some others not so much. WA is a beautiful horse though and was outside most of the race and ran further than the rest and still won

White Abarrio has to be one of the favorites on May 7th. Impressive win ! 11/4 miles should be no problem. 5 weeks to get ready off a relatively easy win. His stalking style is perfect for the big field in The Derby. As good as any 3yo I've seen so far. Not all that well bred but seems to be very talented. Love horse racing this time of year ♥️🏇

His stride didn't look as strong as Charge It's in the last 50m. I've liked White Abarrio since his previous win and put $100 back in Jan for him to win the Derby, but I'd take Charge It over White Abarrio now and at a better price.

I'm thinking it's the inexperience of 'Charge it' for that all-over the place stretch run of his. I think he could win the Kentucky derby going away, provided he gets a good trip and that will be in the hands of the rider. Jockey change, perhaps.

Classic causeway got a great start as usual. Jockey eased the horse at halfway as if injured,? This can't be the horses true running? Wouldn't abandon the horse on this run. Horse that ran second is the one that impressed me most in this race.

Late run by “charge it” just looked to green coming down the lane to the wire..much bigger strides than the rest gobbling up ground but just wasn’t ever gonna catch the winner as Abbario switched leads and cruised thru the finish... What I love to see in a could be ky derby winner?!🧨💰

There’s always another great horse waiting for another great horse to beat @ twinspires...why this race is the best 2 minutes in sports period. I hate favorites and abbario will be one if not the favorite on derby day,and as always I’ll wager against him hoping for an awful trip which is always a possibility but in my opinion I can’t leave him out of my Superfecta ticket that’s for certain.

The stretch is very interesting. Turns his head twice. Once when papacap vears into him, then he vears right behind white abbario and turns his head again. Maybe green, maybe not steered quite spot on, or a combination of both. Because of the those things, plus going the widest, he didn't catch white abbario. But if he has a cleaner trip, maybe he does. Either way he sure did gobble up ground.

I saw the same. Charge It's leggy stride looks like a true 10 furlong specialist. We'll see how it plays out on the first Sat of May.

WA ran approximately 70 feet further than Charge It in this race. So....not that Charge It can't win, but WA was the superior horse this race.

Another example papacap should have run at keenland short stretch. nice horse no match for winner bad ride on charge it. horse to beat in derby will be messier and epicenter plus white

Guess simplification will be dropping in and try to tag them late in the derby

With Classic Causeway more than likely out, that improves his chances! Though I'm not sure ha gets the 1 mi. 1/4. If he wins the Santa Anita derby by a widening margin, yes! If he wins but Messier is closing within 3 lengths, then no!

@@chrispafrieddreams9118 Dude. Messier can still be closing within 3 lengths and Forbidden Kingdom can still win the Derby. Just bc a horse closes in a prep doesn't mean the horse who wins won't win the Derby. There are a large number of factors in the Derby. Assuming Messier gets in (bc he has 0 points rn), he will have to contest with traffic (something he has no experience with) and may also have to take dirt in his face (again, something he hasn't had much experience with due to the small field sizes in Cali)

He got challenged on the lead and didn't like it. So he gave up and threw in the towel. That can sometimes happen to horses that get challenged on the lead after having a loose lead and things go their own way the last couple of races. Also probably got tired bc the pace was super quick early on.

I hope he gets another start before then. We know he ran green and now he is going to be in a 20 horse field and going further, tough task for a horse with only 3 career starts. He may prove to be the best 3 year old in the country- but not yet. Well my opinion anyway...lol

@@tmbmvp With 5 weeks until the Derby, and prep races wrapping up in two weeks, I doubt he will get another start. He still may not even go to the Derby, yes he has 40 points, but nothing is certain until the trainer drops his name in the entry box. He may skip the Derby and wait for the Preakness or the Belmont, which if he waits for the latter race, watch out for him, bc he's a Tapit, and we know what Tapit colts like doing in the Belmont

Messier is destroying this field. He's faster than Epicenter and Forbidden Kingdom. It's as clear as day. He smoked Forbidden Kingdom in the Bob Hope who then won by 9 in the San Felipe.

Forbidden Kingdom had excuses in that race with Messier, Forbidden Kingdom was out in front in that race and the jockey was trying to hold him back for a long time to rate him, the next race against Messier that is not going to happen the jock will let him all be out and Forbidden Kingdom will go wire to wire just like his last race.

He may be faster than Epicenter and Forbidden Kingdom. But speed alone doesn't win you the Kentucky Derby, stamina and being able to rate comfortably does as well. Which is something that Epicenter is able to do. There's HUGE factors in the Derby that could affect Messier's chances (assuming he gets in bc rn he has 0 points). He could get a bad post position, he could stumble at the break and get shuffled back behind horses and forced to take dirt (something he hasn't had to do yet), he could get challenged on the lead (again, something he hasn't had yet) or if it rains, he may not like mud (bc he hasn't run on it before)

You are right, there are 2 top 3 finishers. You could pay more attention to recent history as far as florida derby horses and churchill success, or not.... heart, pray, pointy finger for us..

@@kenbrickman4412 It seems quite often the Derby exacta, is the exact same two horses as as an exacta in a prep race. If I had to bet way, that I think I'd go towards Taiba/Messier out of the Santa Anita. But WA and CI would be a good option also.

What a horrible ride by Charge It jockey, when he fell back into 4th place all he had to do it keep the horse straight and might have passed White Abarrio..

Saez is one of the best riders there and is winning at 23%. The horse Charge It was making only his third career start and first race going further than a mile. He was running very green in the stretch (see how he changed leads again near the 1/16th pole--clear mark of a horse still learning) and Saez was doing everything he could to get the most run out of him.

He was trying. The horse was green and was swerving all over the stretch, as well as switching his leads. The jockey was trying to keep him as straight as he could. This is only the horse's third career start, he's still learning.

No. The horse ran at the beginning of March, it's the beginning of April. He actually did the right thing by putting him in against some tougher competition bc he wasn't running against much at Tampa. Now we know what happens when he gets confronted on the lead vs being be able to control things on a lose lead. He was doing fine until Simplification and Pappacap came up to him and passed him, that's when he completely backed off and quit running. He didn't like that those horses passed him, but instead of responding by surging forward, he threw in the towel, which happens to a lot of horses who get challenged on the lead for the first time after having things their own way in their last few races.

You never see the time of the race printed on the purse check. Never seen the time ever on a purse check in my life. Time is all relative. Horse won the race. End of story. If it rains on Derby day, this horse might be a go!!

The commentators are IDIOTS. It's OBVIOUS that Classic Causeway was INJURED during the race. NO HORSE just "gives up", and no jockey just hand-rides a horse for the entirety of a race. The JOCKEY knows the horse during a race. SOMETHING happened to Classic Causeway, and it's not going to be good news.

Actually yes horse can just give up. They get tired. Some horses who go so long with getting things their own ways on loose leads (like CC was doing at Tampa) often don't like it when a horse challenges them and passes them (as Simplification and Pappacap did) and it can really wreck their confidence. (That's what happened to Nyquist, after he lost the Preakness, he wasn't the same horse). If there was something seriouly wrong with CC, you would have heard about it by now, and nothing has been said, so it's clear that he is fine. He got tired. Horses CAN get tired and quit running. Jockeys will EASE horses to the wire in a race if it's clear that they are not going to win. You clearly know nothing about racing otherwise you would know that jockeys often do "hand-ride" their horses for a majority of a race and only bring out the whips and the urging near the end of a race (especially if it's a longer race), bc they don't want to spend their horse's energy early in the race.

Fantastic outa the gates as usual but beaten and eased after 1/2 mile of racing without any jockey urging? Obvious its not his true running based on his previous runs. Sometimes horses have off days? Wouldn't abandon this horse based on this run. Think he will be the pace horse in the KD and you never know if he runs his best race.

If a horse was injured, the jockey would pull him up to avoid further injury, not continue to hand ride him. He was never hurt seeing how he is running the first Saturday of May. You are the idiot.
