  • @question_it_701

    @question_it_701

    It's not that their bodies run out of races. Not when they are retired after 12 races ....give or take. Look at the "average" horses---they have20, 30, 40, 50 races and race til age 6 or 7. Horses used to be bred to race. Now they are raced to be bred. Digest that for a minute. It's sad. As soon as an owner realizes he has a great racehorse, they retire them. Folks say "Well you can't blame them". I can. So why are you retiring them? To make more money than you can racing. I get that. LOL. But they retire them to do what? Produce more "race" horses. But, horses aren't really raced anymore. Not the good ones. So fans (the ones that provide 100% of the money to fund breeding and racing), are left to get to only watch average horses race. (Remember, the great one are retired as soon as they are deemed "great"). Its a crappy situation. I wish it could be like the 70s and 80s. Justify was retired after like 6 races. LOL. Whats next? A horses 1st 3 races are the TC series, and if he does great, he's retired after 3 races? I have a lot of respect for California Chrome's and American Pharoah's owners. Chrome raced through 4 year old season. AP's owners (Zayed?) gave his fans 3 more races after the TC when almost ALL owners would retire them after a TC win.

This time he's getting two months which is short for him. Remember what happened to Smarty Jones in the Belmont? He was double teamed and it cost him the race and the Triple Crown. Flightline deserves that same treatment in order to prove himself or not. He has won half as many races as others in the BCC field and does not know what being in a buzz saw is like. I don't know, his breeding suggests he should be able to go further. tapit over Indian Charlie. If he can carry that speed in the classic which I think he can, he is unbeatable.

    @@michaellucas669 I hope your right, but I have my doubts. Many horse's are better at sprint distances, or less than classic distance's. I do think he's very tough, although, I may question what he beat in California. His Met Mile was really good, huge beyer, even if the winning margin was less, that's expected with better quality.
