At the end of every Lakers timeout huddle you’ll hear the words, “Sound good, Bron?”

This reminds me of similar parallels when the Lakers hired Byron Scott for the last two years of Kobe's run. Everyone back then knew it was a hire to placate Kobe to have a yes man as a head coach to end his career since the roster had zero chance of making the playoffs. Just like JJ is a hire to placate LeFraud.

When Jeff Saturday was hired to coach the Colts the story was it was disrespectful to career coaches. Is this the same?

I wonder if JJ is still gonna have the support of the front office when LeBron retires after next season cos this track record shows that Pelinka will throw these coaches under the bus for the rosters that he has constructed

This hire should be about post-Lebron Lakers. And hopefully, for their sake post-AD. Going for one Championship & rebuilding? Or rebuilding right away?

JJ was very confrontational really combustible at times on First Take both on race with Perk and on a couple of other issues with Stephen A. I’m not sure how that style is gonna fly with today’s NBA players. Not to mention his recent “buddy” status with LeBron and saying that people shouldn’t care about wins and losses anymore with James but should just enjoy watching his career twilight years essentially. I just don’t see a lot of good tea leaves here heading into this. Could end up being a big mess.

What a joke ! Lebron's buddy gets the gig ? Good luck with that ! Soon as AD goes down with another injury it will turn into 40 wins & back to the playin game .

The past 2 seasons the Lakers were a play-in team. And last season was with a healthy Lebron and a healthy AD, who played 76 games. The season before that the Lakers missed the play-in all together. So your argument makes no sense to me

  • @Larry-dq4ig

Yea, you were too optimistic lol. If AD is hurt the Lakers miss the play in game unless the role players make dramatic improvements. Which is unlikely since the offense is still centered around a 39 year old player who plays no defense.

NBA Analyst: Are the stories about you true? Are you going to coach the Lakers. They say you can't bring a title to LA. JJ Reddick: I wouldn't be bothering with hiring a staff and preparing for the season, would I? NBA Analyst: The Western Conference you're playing-- I would rather take the Detroit or Cavaliers job. I wouldn't want to play out west. JJ Reddick: That's why no one will remember your name.

Because J.J. has this history with Lebron doing this podcast and all that, the narrative seems to be centered around giving Lebron preferential treatment. Yeah? And? Name one coach who WOULDN'T give Lebron preferential treatment. It's Lebron. You take that job, and you have said 'OK, as he goes I go, because that's just how it has to be.' Give me one scenario where J.J. would take Bronny in the second round of the draft, if Lebron wasn't on the Lakers. There isn't one. That's preferential treatment even before you take the job. It's an interesting story, but this has the makings of a climactic dumpster fire. I can't wait.
