    Shaq’s nationally televised classless remarks about Jokic’s third MVP certainly tells us how petty the big man is. Jokic is a class act and deserves every accolade he has received. He also was the MVP last year but had to wait for the finals to prove it.

    Dan Patrick made a precise comment about a 4 year span where Jokic was the best player in the NBA. Maybe, no other player (as a Center) in NBA history had a kind of best of 4 years in the League with 3 MVPs, and a Championship plus Finals MVP. Only Kareem and Wilt (both as Center) would be in that conversation. Jokic will "Tim-Duncan-it" without further notice. He is a future HOF (first ballot).

    @@torpedospurs ok, so you add Bird to that list. That's still pretty fucking good company I would say. You wanna do it even simpler, multiple MVPs + a championship in a span of 4 years and it's still a really, really exclusive list.

  • @torpedospurs

    @torpedospurs

    9 күн бұрын

    @@Sean.Cordes Well, the exclusivity isn't in the championships, but in winning 3 MVPs in 4 years. Only Russell (61, 62, 63), Wilt (66, 67, 68), Kareem (twice overlapping 71, 72, 74 and 74, 76, 77), Bird (84, 85, 86), Magic (87, 89, 90), Lebron (10, 12, 13) and Jokic have done it. Even MJ hasn't done it. Of that group, only Kareem's second stint did not include a championship. Indeed, if you win 3 MVPs in 4 years, you're supposed to win 2 or more championships in that span. Wilt and Kareem in his first stint won just one. Bird, Magic and Lebron won two. Russell won four. Jokic still has a chance to join that group but he's gotta win Game 4 first.

    Actually, Shaq said stats stuffer as a complement to SGA. (I agree it was self serving, but it was also classless, especially to Jokic's face, and I was embarrassed for Shaq.) But which stats are important? It's easy to understand certain per-game stats, like ppg. But maybe there are more important stats which the voters understood and accounted for. Jokic led league in +/-, box +/- win shares, and value above replacement. He led in these categories by a lot and with only one all-star on the team (himself). This is not to mention his Globe Trotter antics on the court (buzzer beaters, behind the backboard score, crazy passes), the streaks of insanely high efficiency, and his general team-first mentality which drew me and many others back to watching the NBA. Given the youth of OKC, it was for me a toss up between SGA and Jokic, and I hope SGA gets it next year, but frankly it's idiotic to say that Jokic didn't deserve the MVP this year.

    This is one of the dumbest takes ever. First off, the MVP is a regular season award, and playoffs have NOTHING to do with it. Can you imagine if in the NHL people started to factoring in past playoff success when they give out the Vezina Trophy, that would be ridiculous You take how the person did that year and that year alone. Secondly, no one is more important than the Joker to his team and all the numbers back this up. Even this year he had to deal with his #2 Murry being out 20-30 game and STILL got the same record as SGA. The man has gone whole seasons missing his #2 and #3 and still carried the team to the playoffs. No other superstar has done this without another all-star teammate, which he has never had. If you take Joker off of the Nuggets they become a lottery team.

    Pretty much every year there is a case for 4 or 5 players to also deserve to be MVP. That’s what you get with a vote. SGA and Luka may never win MVP, even if they would be worthy winners. C’est la vie.

    I'm sorry, but this opinion is ridiculous. In the same way that some had already buried the Nuggets and ended the series. They are talking about the champion team and the best player of the last four years.

    Jokic can only get another mvp if he scores 30+ and they win 70+ games. He wont average 30+ because he is to unselfish.

    I disagree !!! Jokic will win one more why ? Sooner or later jokic is gonna average a triple double for a season a when he does it will be historic an the narrative behind it will be Jokic the first big man to ever do it

    Dan Patrick if you can't name but two players on OKC I don't think you should comment on NBA topics. That's mad. One of the deeper teams in the league I mean Josh Giddey for crying out loud lol. I agree with the Joker take but leave basketball to the people who love it.

    Dan you need to update your hearing aid and your Coca Cola glass prescription. And a soap or mouth wash would help since your breath stinks since you can't stop your dribbling.
